A Word of Advice From the Gym

Wednesday, December 1st

Sat with: Clique #12
Accompanied by: Steph

Table #12 doesn't look menacing from the other side of the lunchroom. But that's just from the other side of the lunchroom.

Conversation:
Girl #1: . . . So, then my little sister's baby was born yesterday, and he was all like, 'your family's growin' way fast now' and I was like, 'what are you tryin' to say?' and he was like . . .
Steph: Are you sure you don't want to do another table?
Me: Better now than never, right? We're going to do every one.
Girl #2: My sister, she's still in Mexico, and she when my dad heard that she was . . .

You get the idea.

Conclusion: My last class of the day before Thanksgiving break was gym. Before we left for the day, our teacher sat us down and said, "Over the break, I want you to really evaluate your lives. Really. Because some of you have everything somebody else has ever wanted, and it doesn't seem to me like you know just how lucky you are." When you don't leave your lunch table, sometimes if feels like you've got the worst luck in the world, or things could not get worse with those three projects due on Monday. But when you leave the table and you sit someplace like table 12, you don't see anything the same. That could be anybody. Anybody could be sitting at table 12.
