Jr. High School Musical

Friday, December 3rd

Sat with: Clique #23
Accompanied by: Steph

Table #23 is full of High School Musical characters. I mean, the kind of girls that made paper chain count downs to school play auditions, the kind of girls that bought copies of the Oklahoma! script second hand to practice lines, the kind of girls that I honestly, truly, never wanted to get in the way of when it came to the musical. They're nice and everything, but when it came to Oklahoma! I just wanted to back into a corner and smack my name down on the "ensemble" list. And I planed this table schedule out so well. December 3rd was the day they posted the cast list.

Conversation:
Steph: Hi, everybody.
Me: Hello.
All: (Stare)
Me: Maddie, congratulations on Ado Annie- I know you'll do a really good job.
Maddie: Thanks, Lauren.
Me: Where's Cassidy? Is she . . .
(As far as I was concerned: Every competitor for Laurie turned their head and growled at me.)
Me: Clearing my throat I mean . . . she'll be a great Laurie. Aren't you all excited for . . . for the cast meeting?

As far as I was concerned, I hadn't been this nervous in a long time. Since the day before, in fact.

Conclusion: Nothing is the end of the world, really. People just decide differently.
