Memory Lane

Sat with clique #14: all sevie girls in a far corner I've never been to before.
Sat next to: Hannah, Sydney, Jessica, Lizzie, etc. All grinning through their juice boxes and laughing (between bites).

Conversation:
Sydney- Oh, hi Lauren! Guys, let's sit by Lauren.
Me- Hello.
Hannah- Are you doing your experiment thing with us?
Me- Yeah, so you better be careful- the TRUTH of what I think of you guys will be all over the internet tonight.
-SILENCE
Me- I'm kidding, don't freak out. You guys are awesome.
Hannah- Are you trying out for the play this year?
Me- Of course! Are you?
Lizzie- I am for sure. Where do we get the audition forms?
Me- In the front office I think- in fact, we should probably go get some right now and fill them out.

Conclusion: Last night, I made the horrible mistake of running into my seventh grade journal: completely filled to the brim with entries like, "There really is no point to seventh grade, is there?" and "What is it about Jr. High that makes people act like such idiots?" These girl's journals, you could tell, were definatly not wallowing in self pitty. All of them had already made the best of a tricky situation and they enjoy themselves every day of school. I could have to, but I decided I was above everything. This summer, I tried putting the power of positive thinking to use and decided to be happy about school, finally catching up with these girls when it comes to maturity.

Resolution: We all sit in the same chairs in the same stinky school every day, so why are some people happier? They decided along time ago that there's so much more to school than work- and there's so much more to school than you.

  1. I think you're cool. In this post, my comment refers to the great wisdom of Ann: "Did you do the best you could with the knowledge you had at the time?" Yes. I think you did. Don't be too harsh on your 7th grade self. You had a lot to deal with.

  2. Hi Lauren.

My name is Brooke, and I came across your blog the other day. I think what you are doing is absolutely fantastic and wonderful. Most people haven't even thought about sitting somewhere different at lunch and by reading your posts, I have had an awakening, for lack of better words. Lets just say my thoughts were put into prespective. I would love if you checked out my blogs, but I know because I am also in middle school, that life can be busy.
